Drug
information refers to the provision of unbiased, well referenced,
and critically evaluated information on any aspect medicines.

As the scope of Pharmacy
Practice continues to expand to meet the needs of a more knowledgeable
and health conscious consumer, it becomes imperative that
the pharmacist be empowered with the latest information on
advances in diseases and medications used to treat them; so
as to expand their services beyond the routine dispensing
of medications to more patient centered services.

The clinician today is already
overworked trying to cope with his ever increasing patient
load making it next to impossible for him to acquire sufficient
knowledge on the latest medicines, he is supposed to handle.
The Department of pharmacy practice
is equipped with a functional Drug Information Centre with
the necessary databases and reference books required for
provision of drug information.
